We can expect more vitriol and borderline racism in the months ahead. Much of it will come, not from hardcore Clintonistas, but from Limbaugh dittoheads masquerading as aggrieved Clinton supporters in order to sow dissension within the Democratic Party. In many ways it will resemble the Brooks Brothers Riot the Bush campaign unleashed on local election officials during the aborted Florida recount in 2000. Make no mistake: The only way the Democrats lose this election is through Republican thievery. Based on the Repos’ criminality over the past eight years, expect them to attempt it.

Straight talk my ass.
The more people learn about John McCain the more they’ll realize that this warped POS will say anything to make a good impression. Yes, I know it’s hard to believe that some people want to hear talk about endless wars and “winning” in Iraq, while others have completely swallowed the war hero prattle. More on that later.
But first, let’s watch the Straight Talk Express go off the rails. Video from Robert Greenwald.

It’s hard to accept that in January 2009 the US will have as many troops in Iraq as we did at the time of the 2006 election. Does anyone truly believe that we live in a functioning democracy? Evidently the will of the people means nothing.
I write this having just come across an article on MotherJones.com. Written by Frida Berrigan, the article is called “The Pentagon Takes Over: Entrenched, Embedded, and Here to Stay: The Pentagon’s Expansion Will Be Bush’s Lasting Legacy.”

Glenn Greenwald’s column today discusses the network anchors and the role they played in the run-up to the Iraq war. On the one hand you have Katie Couric of CBS faulting the media for not being more skeptical, and on the other hand you have Charlie Gibson. This Charlie Gibson.
An excerpt, in which Greenwald quotes David Halberstam on the latter’s view of what’s wrong with the press, circa 1999…

Good luck to anyone who thinks he or she can tell McCain from Bush, and vice versa. Watch this new ad from Moveon.org. The inspiration comes from a popular 1960s TV series…
The testimony of former Marine and Iraq war veteran Jon Michael Turner, at Winter Soldier: Iraq and Afghanistan in early 2008. Turner is a member of Iraq Veterans Against the War.

In what appears to be a race to the bottom, we now have Fox contributor Liz Trotta making assassination “jokes” about Barack Obama.
First Huckabee, then Clinton, now Trotta.
Who knew that assassination was such a knee-slapper?
And how can we account for the fact that some people on the national stage — Huckabee and Trotta among them — find humor in murder and still have a career afterward?

Asked if Clinton has personally called Obama to apologize for the reference, McAuliffe said she has not, “nor should she.” He added, “Let’s be clear. This had nothing to with Senator Obama or his campaign.”
One can only conclude that Clinton resents Barack Obama so much that she can’t even act decently toward him. This stems either from her overwhelming sense of entitlement, of having been denied her “rightful” reward — the nomination — by the upstart Obama. Or from the fact that Hillary is, sadly, racist to the core. I think it’s the former but can’t rule out the latter.
