Another day, more dead Palestinians. Israel now threatens escalation and “a new phase in the war on terror.”
War on terror, or war of terror?
From Al Jazeera, we learn that the IDF may now be dropping Dimes on Gazans:
Gazans ‘locked in’
Mads Gilbert, a Norwegian doctor working at Shifa hospital in Gaza City, told Al Jazeera: “We have been to many war zones, but the special thing is that the 1.5 Gaza population are completely locked in.
“The civilian population has no way to hide. The population density is so high you can not do attacks like this without knowing that you are attacking the civilians.
“Also, the injuries must come from extremely explosive devices. We suspect that Israel is using a new type of high explosive called Dime [dense inert metal explosive].
“We urge the world, stop the bombing of Gaza. Please stop it.”
Since Israel launched its offensive 15 days ago, 13 Israelis have died, including three civilians….
Meanwhile:
The Palestinian death toll in the Gaza Strip has risen to 854 people and more than 3,350 injured.
On the one hand, 13 dead. And on the other, 854.
But not to worry. You remember outsourcing shill Tom Friedman and his “Suck on this!“
Now we have New Republic paper tiger Marty Peretz, who says proportionality is pure hooey. From the column of this kept man ten days ago:
“…50 fighter jets and attack helicopters demolished some 40 to 50 sites in just about three minutes, maybe five. Message: do not fuck with the Jews. At roughly noon, another 60 air-attack vehicles went after other Hamas strategic positions. Israeli intelligence reported 225 people dead, mostly Hamas military leaders with some functionaries, besides, and perhaps 400 wounded. The Palestinians announced 300 dead, probably as a reflex in order to begin their whining about disproportionate Israeli acts of war. And 600 wounded.
Frankly, I am up to my gullet with this reflex criticism of Israel as going beyond proportionality in its responses to war waged against its population with the undisguised intention of putting an end to the political expression of the Jewish nation.”
What is the frequency, Marty?
How does “Do not fuck with the Jews” accord with Peretz’s claim that Israel’s very survival is threatened? Que es mas macho: Israel, or the rest of the Middle East? Is Israel better served by worrying about other nations wanting to destroy it for no reason, thus its perceived need to bomb the shit out of neighboring territories, or should it give more thought to its continued aggression as provocation for future attacks? And what of those settlements that keep getting built on Palestinian land?
It’s a tough neighborhood, Americans are told. Goyim shouldn’t stick their tuchus into situations they can’t understand. Just keep sending weapons and money.
